Being a new graduate can be daunting and uncertain. Membership services launched a mentorship program at the start of 2022 where new graduates were given the opportunity to be paired with a mentor.
Mentors were then volunteers who made available some time to guide and navigate new graduates. Pairing was carefully done and not specific to modalities. Kobie Swart, from the membership committee, coordinated this process.
Feedback from mentees was positive, with them expressing how reassuring it was to know that ‘someone was there for them when they needed to know something’; and how ‘having a mentor meant going into the real world a little more confident than before.’
We look forward to continuing with the mentorship program in 2023. Any Sanata member willing to make themselves available to be a mentor next year, please contact membership services on firstname.lastname@example.org.
